Second Grade Students Make Butter
Posted on 03/31/2017
During the month of March 2017, 2nd grade Bilingual students from Ms. Carrillo’s, Mrs. Honick’s and Mrs. Terzich’s classes, along with Mrs. Thor, ESL teacher, have been busy learning about matter. One area of study included students learning about the physical and chemical changes of matter. To demonstrate how liquids can change into solids the students made butter by using heavy whipping cream. They poured heavy whipping cream into mason jars which contained a marble. Next, they took turns with their partner shaking the jar until the liquid whipping cream changed into the solid of butter. Finally, they were able to spread this butter onto a cracker to enjoy! This project was super fun and all the students enjoyed a tasty treat!
